Planning on visiting Bourton-on-the-Water and love cafes? Then a visit to The Den is a must. I discovered this little shop back in September 2019. The small seating area makes it extra cosy and the staff are ever so welcoming. As well as selling locally roasted coffee and baked cakes, The Den have a great vegetarian and vegan menu. I was so pleased to see so many options, that I had a hard time choosing!
I eventually decided and chose the vegan tuna baguette. I had never tried vegan tuna before so was curious to see what Loma Linda Tuno was like. It is very different to the actual fish. There is no distinctive tuna smell and the texture was more aldente than soft. I was expecting a closer substitute but it was nice nonetheless.
When I heard there was vegan ice cream too, I couldn’t wait to eat it! Jude’s Salted Caramel flavour won my heart and tastebuds. It was creamy, smooth and had the right amount of sweetness to it. Yum.
The other thing that caught my eye were the cupcakes. I had to chose between Lime and Coconut or Rose & Elderflower. I decided to go for the latter. The cake was soft and fluffy and had a strong taste of elderflower running throughout.
I would definitely recommend The Den for their food and plenty of vegan options. I also guarantee you will leave with a smile!
